- Mon Jul 28: dot Red Hat Releases Beta Versions of Upcoming Releases

tod Red Hat has made public Red Hat Linux 9.0.93 (standard Linux version), and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.9.5AS/WS (enterprise versions), beta versions of upcoming releases.

tod These releases will inevitably become part of what will be a series starting with the current Red Hat Linux 9, which is widely regarded as a successful release and one I have found to be excellent. This gives us reason to expect good things from these upcoming releases. The beta versions can also be downloaded from S. A. Hughes Consulting's FTP site, ftp.sanguine.net.

- Wed Apr 9: dot SquirrelMail Webmail Articles In Japanese Magazines

tod Articles written by Masato Higashiyama and I on SquirrelMail, a fully functional webmail software package, appeared in both Japan's UNIX USER and Nikkei Linux, which went on sale on the 8th of April (May editions).

Masato and I are a two man team, The RisuMail Team (risu means squirrel in Japanese), and together we provide commercial services using SquirrelMail, both in and outside Japan, in English and Japanese. We integrate and support full mail systems which are inexpensive, secure, and can be used by any one straight away, with essentially no learning curve. We will soon be opening our RisuMail English site. In the meantime, please feel free to direct any inquiries regarding our services to me.

- Mon Apr 7: dot Red Hat Linux 9 Supported!

tod As of Today, the 7th of April 2003, S. A. Hughes Consulting supports Red Hat Linux 9. This announcement follows nearly one week of considerable pre-release testing on a number of different Intel and Intel compatible servers (including VIA Technology's EPIA Mini-ITX mainboard), and the results were encouraging. This looks to be a very robust and stable release. Red Hat Linux 9 is due to be released in the US today.

dot English/Japanese Language Services Commenced!

tod I now offer my languages services (English <-> Japanese), interpreting and translating, as an official part of my business offerings. My skills in this area can be considered a by-product of 10 years in Japan and a formal tertiary education here. Please see the Language Services section for details.

dot Custom RPMs for Red Hat Linux 7.2 Retired

tod As of today, I have retired my custom RPMs for Red Hat Linux 7.2. 7.2 was and still is a good release, however all the servers I manage are now either 7.3 or 6.2, with 9 to be added, and as such, I have no need to maintain this release from herein. In line with this, the custom rpm directory for 7.2 has been removed from http://ftp.sanguine.net/pub/sahughes/rhl/.

tod Please note that I am still maintaining 7.2 compatible SquirrelMail and Mailman on rpms, and that I can maintain rpms for any release on contract. See the Support section for details.
